Wired for a Better Tomorrow: Angkan’s Journey from Fields to Futures
In the quiet village of Durgapur, under Sakhipur police station in Tangail district, a young man named Angkan Chandra Barman dared to reimagine his fate. Born into an ethnic minority family, Angkan is the youngest child of Amlesh Chandra Barman and Lakshmi Rani Barman, and the son of a humble farmer who earns only 8,000–9,000 BDT per month from tilling the land.
After completing his SSC in 2020, Angkan’s dream of higher education was cut short. The family’s income simply couldn’t stretch any further. As he watched his peers move on, Angkan was left wondering whether he would ever get the chance to build a future beyond the struggles he was born into.
That chance came unexpectedly through a Facebook post.
In 2023, he saw an admission campaign by UCEP Bangladesh and learned about the Electrical Installation & Maintenance (EIM) trade training. Intrigued and full of quiet determination, he enrolled in the July–September session that same year.
The training transformed more than just his skillset—it awakened his confidence.
After completing his course, Angkan began working under Mintu Sheikh, taking on contract-based electrical work in local homes. With each job, his expertise grew. Today, he earns 15,000 to 17,000 BDT per month—nearly double his father’s income. Together, they now support the family with dignity and peace of mind.
For the Barman family, life has changed. Meals are regular. Smiles come easier. And above all, there’s hope in the air.
The transformation is not just economic—it’s social. Inspired by Angkan’s journey, neighbors in Durgapur are now curious about UCEP. Young people are beginning to believe that they too can rewrite their futures with the right skills.
Angkan’s journey is far from over. With a vision of going abroad to advance his career, he is committed to further enhancing his skills and seizing every opportunity. He doesn’t just dream for himself—he carries the dreams of his family, his community, and every young person who has ever felt left behind.
In a world where chances are rare and success even rarer, Angkan Chandra Barman is proof that when talent meets opportunity, a spark of hope can light up an entire village.
