DHAKA, July 22, 2026: UCEP Bangladesh organized a special programme to mark World Youth Skills Day 2026. The programme was held at Cheyne Hall of the UCEP Bangladesh Head Office in Mirpur-2, Dhaka. It brought together Government officials, industry leaders, employers, development partners, educators and young graduates to discuss how skills development can create better employment opportunities and contribute to Bangladesh’s economic growth. Under the theme “Skills for a shared future”, activities are focused on the need to develop innovative youth skills programmes that prepare young people to successfully participate in societies and economies, where they can lead with empathy, communicate across cultures, build resilience and contribute to a better future.

The event began with a visit to the UCEP Mirpur TVET Institute and UCEP Polytechnic Institute, where guests observed practical training sessions and student innovation projects. UCEP graduates also shared their inspiring success stories, showing how skills training helped them build successful careers and improve their lives.

The event was attended by Mr. Ariful Haque Choudhury, MP, Hon’ble Minister of the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, as the Chief Guest. Mr. Mahdi Amin, Adviser to the Honourable Prime Minister and Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office, and Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Tarafder, Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, attended as Special Guests. The programme was hosted by Dr. Md. Abdul Karim, Executive Director of UCEP Bangladesh, and chaired by Mr. A. Matin Chowdhury, Former Chairperson of UCEP Bangladesh.

Mr. Ariful Haque Choudhury said, “Bangladesh’s young population is one of its greatest strengths. By investing in quality technical and vocational education and strengthening partnerships among the government, industry and training institutions, we can equip our youth with the skills needed for future jobs, enhance their employability, and accelerate the country’s sustainable economic development.”

For more than 50 years, UCEP Bangladesh has been providing technical and vocational education to disadvantaged young people, helping them gain skills, secure decent jobs and improve their livelihoods. Through the celebration of World Youth Skills Day 2026, the organization reaffirmed its commitment to building a skilled workforce and supporting Bangladesh’s sustainable development.
