From Shadows to Shine: Parvez’s Path to Possibility”

In the quiet corners of Bhawal, Mirzapur, where dreams are often drowned out by daily struggles, a young man named Md. Parvez Hosen dared to hope for more. Born to Md. Milan Ghazi and Parveen Akter, Parvez is the second son in a family of four—modest in size but rich in resilience.

Parvez’s story began in Bashbariya village of Galachipa, Barisal, where he completed his HSC in 2019. The very next chapter of his life was marked by a move to Gazipur, driven not by ambition but necessity. His father and elder brother worked as day laborers, barely earning enough to keep the household afloat. Then came another turning point—his elder brother married and moved out, leaving behind not just an empty room, but a deep financial vacuum.

The family found themselves caught in a web of uncertainty. Food was not always guaranteed. Dreams seemed too costly. And for Parvez, the future looked like a long, narrow tunnel with no light at the end.

But fate, as it often does, intervened quietly.

During a community campaign by UCEP Bangladesh’s Social Inclusion Team, Parvez heard about skill development training opportunities. Something sparked inside him—a flicker of hope. He took a leap of faith and enrolled in the Electrical Installation & Maintenance (EIM) trade under UCEP Gazipur TVET Institute, in the July–September 2023 batch.

The next three months became a turning point. Parvez showed up with nothing but determination. He learned wiring, maintenance, tools, and techniques—but more importantly, he discovered his own worth. The training didn’t just teach him a trade—it gave him confidence, structure, and a purpose.

Soon after completing his training, Parvez landed a job as a Junior Operator at Epilion Group in Rajendrapur, Bangla Bazar, earning 15,000 BDT per month. For many, it might seem modest—but for Parvez and his family, it was a new dawn. From worrying about daily meals to finally seeing financial stability, the family began to smile again—genuinely, freely.

Today, Parvez stands tall—not just with a job, but with a mission. He is proud to support his parents, to shoulder responsibilities once too heavy to imagine. His self-belief has bloomed, and with it, the morale of his entire family. Inspired by his journey, Parvez now dreams of bringing his elder brother into UCEP’s training program, so their family can grow even stronger.

As for his future, Parvez speaks not of settling, but of rising further. He dreams of upskilling, learning more through work, and someday earning a higher salary—not just for himself, but for the family that stood by him through it all.

Parvez’s story is not just about escaping poverty. It is about what happens when opportunity meets courage—how a young man from a struggling village rewrote his fate with wire, willpower, and unwavering hope.

And now, when people see Parvez walking to work in his company uniform, they don’t just see a technician—they see a symbol of transformation, one skill at a time
