Major General Amjad Khan Chowdhury was a founding member of the UCEP Association and served as Chairperson of the Board of Governors and UCEP Association.
A retired officer of the Bangladesh Army, Major General Chowdhury was a visionary entrepreneur and the founder of PRAN-RFL Group, one of the largest conglomerates in Bangladesh. Born in Natore, British India, in 1937, he pursued his early education at Nabakumar Institution before joining the Pakistan Army in 1956. During the Liberation War of 1971, he was stationed in West Pakistan and later repatriated to Bangladesh in 1973, where he continued his military service. He held key leadership roles, including General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Comilla and Bogra Cantonments and Quartermaster General of the Bangladesh Army, before retiring in 1981.
Following his military career, Major General Chowdhury transitioned into business, founding RFL (Rangpur Foundry Ltd.) in 1981 to manufacture irrigation pumps and later establishing PRAN in 1985 to promote agro-based industries. Under his leadership, PRAN-RFL Group expanded to export products to over 130 countries. He also played a pioneering role in the real estate and agro-processing sectors, serving as the founding president of REHAB (Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh) and Bangladesh Agro-Processors’ Association.
