Mr. Syed Afzal Hasan Uddin served as a member of the UCEP Board of Governors (2023-2024). He is the Managing Partner at Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed & Associates (SIA&A), one of Bangladesh’s oldest and top-tier law firms. With over 25 years of experience, Afzal specializes in corporate advisory services, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, takeovers, and public and private equity transactions.
He has advised on over 300 transactions, including the Unilever-GSK acquisition and investments in Apollo Hospitals and Evercare. Afzal has also served as an external consultant for the Asian Development Bank and played a key role in the privatization of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Admitted to the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh in 2001 and a Barrister of Lincoln’s Inn, Afzal is recognized as one of the top 50 lawyers in Bangladesh with Band 1 status in corporate and finance law.
