38th Death Anniversary of Lindsay Allan Cheyne Commemorated by UCEP Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh: UCEP Bangladesh solemnly observed the 38th death anniversary of its founder, Lindsay Allan Cheyne on 15 September 2024, with a heartfelt memorial program, paying tribute to his legacy and contributions to empowering underprivileged communities through education and vocational training.

The program commenced with a wreath-laying ceremony to honor the memory of Lindsay Allan Cheyne. The Chief Guest, Ms. Parveen Mahmud FCA, Former Chairperson of UCEP Bangladesh, along with the Members of the UCEP Board, Association, Senior Management Team (SMT), and UCEP officials, placed flower wreaths in a moving display of respect. This was followed by a moment of silence, allowing all present to reflect on the enduring impact of Cheyne’s vision and express their collective gratitude.

UCEP ex-students, who closely worked with Cheyne, shared their memories, recalling how Cheyne’s work has transformed their lives.

In a heartfelt memorial tribute, the Chief Guest, Ms. Parveen Mahmud, spoke of Cheyne’s unparalleled dedication to social justice and the empowerment of marginalized communities. She emphasized the lasting imprint of his work on UCEP Bangladesh and the nation as a whole.

Dr. Md. Abdul Karim, Executive Director of UCEP Bangladesh, concluded the program with deep gratitude, expressing the organization’s commitment to continuing Cheyne’s mission of transforming lives through inclusive education and skills training. He highlighted the importance of staying true to the values and principles that Lindsay Allan Cheyne established, ensuring his legacy remains a guiding light for future generations.

The event was graced by Special Guests Mr. Neaz Ahmed, Honorary Consul of New Zealand, and Dr. Muhammad Abdul Mazid, Member of the UCEP Board of Governors. They paid tribute to Cheyne’s remarkable contributions, highlighting the continued relevance of his work and the positive impact UCEP Bangladesh has had on countless lives.
